Some people are afraid of what they might find if they try to analyze themselves too much, but you have to crawl into your wounds to discover where your fears are. Once the bleeding starts, the cleansing can begin.

“Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings” - Father John Misty
Former Fleet Foxes member J. Tillman has given immediate weight to his foray into a solo career with his video for “Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings.” First thing, Aubrey Plaza is fucking shit up, eating flowers and being generally zany. This madcap version of Plaza matches nicely with the droning psychedelia of the song. Secondly, the song is impressive. Rather than sticking to the folkiness of Fleet Foxes, Tillman’s music is decidedly more bombastic without reaching for the rafters and has an understated catchiness. Finally, the video is wonderfully shot and sets a high bar for Fear Fun (Sub Pop, May 1), but his credentials thus far point to what is sure to be an excellent debut.
